SWEDISH MASSAGE - 55 HOURS
Swedish Massage is the manipulation of the superficial tissues of the body using the hands, arms and/or elbows to apply systematic stroking, kneading, and pressing in order to induce a state of total relaxation, relief from pain, reduction of edema, and increased range of motion.
PATHOLOGY - 33 HOURS
Safety and disease processes encountered by the massage therapist, i.e. when it is safe to touch and when it is not. This course discusses hygiene, critical thinking aas it applies to massage and the pathologies relating to the various body systems. Stress, Repetitive Motion Syndrome, Fibromyalgia and other disorders will also be addressed.
ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY - 100 HOURS
A course designed to explore the structure and function of our human bodies, i.e. how the body is organized, the identification and action of the principal muscles. You will also gain an understanding of the integumentary, cardiovascular, lymphatic, immune, skeletal, nervous, digestive, respiratory, genito-urinary, reproductive, muscular and endocrine systems.
ETHICS AND THE THERAPIST - 5 HOURS
This class will explore moral issues such as client confidentiality, client boundaries and professional standards.
BODY AWARENESS AND MOVEMENT - 15 HOURS
This course will allow the massage therapist to learn to inhibit faulty habits and to move in congruence with the body's natural design and reflexes while accomplishing daily tasks including performing massage.
REFLEXOLOGY - 18.5 HOURS
Reflexology is a system of pressure massage of the feet. Each pressure or reflex point corresponds to specific organs, glands and systems of the body. Stimulation of the feflexes breaks up congestion, increases circulation, and promotes a relaxation response.
NEUROMUSCULAR THERAPY (NMT) - 10 HOURS
This therapy focuses on releasing chronically contracted muscles via direct pressure to the tissue. The technique is similar to oriental accupressure.
BUSINESS PRACTICES - 10 HOURS
Tis prepares the students to understand the business side of a massage therapy practice. Learn how to write a resume, how to self-promote, how toadvertise, discuss business cards, brochures, how to network and how to succeed.
CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR) - 3.5 HOURS
The student learns how to recognize the warning signs of a heart attack and stroke and what to do of they occur and how to treat repiratory distress and choking.
INTRODUCTION TO THAI MASSAGE - 15 HOURS
This class teaches the fundamentals of Thai Massage. Lecture,demonstration, and hands-on time is incorporated. Students learn a mini one-hour session addressing the feet, legs, hips, abdomen, chest, head, back and shoulders.
COMMUNICATION AWARENESS - 20 HOURS
Students will learn hoe to develop their own self-awareness through a variety of methods, i.e. breathing techniques, movements, role-playing and group discussion.
CONNECTIVE TISSUE MASSAGE (CTM) - 37 HOURS
Connective Tissue Massage is based on the philosophy that assumes isolated pathologies do not exist anywhere in the body. The work focuses on the connective tissue of the muscle and the principle that heat and pressure applied to superficial tissue is transmitted to deeper layers by sensory nerve endings. This massage is a systemic reflex zone massage, using a pulling motion to release the connective tissue, to increase circulation, and to stimulate the funtioning of body systems through the nervous system.
MYOFASCIAL RELEASE (MFR) - 15 HOURS
MFR consists of the gentle application of sustained pressure into the fascial restrictions. It works the fascia as a means of achieving pain relief, restoring function and reducing stress.
HYDROTHERAPY - 10 HOURS
This class teaches the student about the therapeutic applications of hot packs, hot towels, hot stones, cold packs, ice cups, and other therapeutic tools and procedures.
SEATED MASSAGE - 15 HOURS
Seated Massage is an integrated blend of modalities designed to be brought right into the workplace. The emphasis is on shorrt, effective routines designed to alleviate stress, bringing on a relaxed state of awareness.
INTRO TO CRANIAL SACRAL THERAPY - 15 HOURS
Experience the subtle, yet powerful effects of the Cranial Sacral system as you learn about its phsiological movements and palpate its rhythms. The course will offer a hands-on exploration of Cranial Sacral techniques designed to free the fascial system and restore equilibrium flow and healing the entire body.
SPORTS MASSAGE - 59 HOURS
This training will provide the student with the techniques to provide the athlete with both preventative and rehabilitive treatments.
AROMATHERAPY - 15 HOURS
Learn how and why Aromatherapy works: how to use Aromatherapy to treat symptoms and contitions and to strengthen the immune response, the psychology of fragrance, concepts of holistic oils, how to create blends and how to assess the quality of oils.
PREGNANCY MASSAGE - 14 HOURS
This course is designed to give the massage therapist an understanding of the pregnant client's anatomy, physiology, precautions and contraindications. As well as the positioning, depth of pressure, technique modifications and high risk factors that the therapist wil need to know when working on a pregnant client.
PROCESS ACCUPRESURE (PA) - 15 HOURS
This course ia a body and mind modality that works the whole person to further health, well being and balanced development. It is based on the knowledge of the body's own energy systems, meridians and chakras.
SPA THERAPIES - 15 HOURS
Students will learn hands-on techniques for exfoliating body scrubs, rejuvinating body wraps, and details for turning a clinical massage into the ultimate pampering experience.
STRETCHING - 15 HOURS
We will learn stretching for self-administration, team member assisted and therapist assist cient. We'll develop evaluation skills for injury prevention and recovery for sports specific demands.
MEDICAL QI GONG- 15 HOURS
Basic understanding of meridians, movement of Qi (energy) and deter of organs. Students will learn how to bring Qi energy into the body to move through the body to build on it and use it to detox and energize thw organs. Also to understand the key point of self-healing both physical and emotional.
ELDERLY MASSAGE - 14 HOURS
This course is designed to give the therapist a means of understanding the different approach that our elders require of massage. The therapist will learn how postural changes can affect how we position our client, techniques that will most benefit the elderly and some therapeutic movements that can be given to our senior citizens so they may help themselves. We will also address the indications and contraindictions for our elders and an intake interview.
HOSPICE MASSAGE - 14 HOURS
This course explores the specialized healthcare practice of hospice and palliative care and the uses of non-pharmacological intervention that support comfort in the dying process. Students will develop a greater sensitivity to the experience of illness and death awareness. This education can improve a massage therapist's non-verbal listening skills and touch sensitivity in working with people who feel vulnerable.
INTEGRATION - 10 HOURS
A course used as an opportunity to practice the blending of the learned techniques.
VISION QUEST - 8 HOURS
Students will learn how to gather their awarenes and focus it. Students will learn how to apply attention to their intention responsibility.
INSURANCE BILLING - 4 HOURS
This course will help the therapist doing insurance billing by familiarizing them with appropriate coding, claim forms, proper documentation and the insurance regulations, standards and guidelines necessary for billing.
CLINIC - 10 HOURS
Students will be observed and critiqued during cient intake, introduction to the table, handling of client, client assessment, strategic implementation, time management and client feedback.
TEST PREPARATION - 15 HOURS
The final week for this program will consist of a review of the topics covered concerning the National Certification Exam. Also discussed will be strategies fo test taking and test anxiety prevention.
